Road Trip List: Things to Bring on A Road Trip in Summer 2019

May 31, 2019

According to a AAA Travel survey, 100 million Americans are planning to take a family vacation in 2019.

Nothing’s more frustrating than forgetting to pack an essential. Don’t worry though; we’ve got you covered!

Get packing with this list of five things to bring on a road trip. That way, you’ll be prepared with everything you need to make your next road trip a “wheel” success!

1. Spare Tire

You never know what’s going to happen while you’re on the road. To be prepared, pack a spare tire—and know how to change it.

That way, a flat tire couldn’t possibly slow you down. By packing a spare tire as one of the essential things to bring on a road trip, you can prepare for potholes and loose nails that might cause a flat.

This will also help you prepare in cause AAA isn’t within reach!

For a little extra room, look into Truck Campers for your next road trip.

2. License, Registration, Insurance

These seem like basic things to pack on a road trip (or even a short drive), but they’re major and can’t be forgotten!

Don’t bother starting the car without these three items. That way, you’re prepared for possible accidents (or even an unfortunate, unwanted speeding ticket).

3. Snackage

It’s important to stay fueled during a road trip. That means your car and everyone who’s tagging along, too!

Pack everyone’s favorite snacks and bottles of water for the road. That way, you can stay hydrated and stop less often for a bite to eat. Prepare to make a few stops for bathroom breaks, though.

If you’re packing snacks as part of your road trip list, make sure to check out number five on this list of things to bring on a road trip.

4. First Aid Kit

More than 18,000 Americans die every year from accidents that occur at home. With a first aid kit at hand while you’re on the road, you can take first steps before you reach a hospital.

Having a first aid kit at the ready can also prevent a hospital trip. If someone experiences a mild fall and cuts their skin, a first aid kit can help prevent infection.

Otherwise, not having basics like bandages and antiseptic wipes can hinder your road trip.

Instead of wasting half the day at the hospital, add this to your list of things to bring on a road trip to prepare for any accidents.

5. Car Garbage Can

All of those empty snack wrappers and water bottles have to go somewhere, right? No, I don’t mean the floor or littering the dashboard, either.

A car garbage can will help keep your vehicle clean even during long car rides.

As an item on your road trip essentials list, a garbage can will save you the clean up at the end of your drive.

9 Rules for Finding a Wedding Caterer That’s Right for You

May 29, 2019

Until you buy a house together, your wedding is likely to be the most expensive thing you do as a couple. The average wedding costs over $30,000, and food is bound to be the biggest thing on the budget.

Finding a wedding caterer can also be one of the most stressful items to tick off the list unless you’ve chosen a venue that’s going to do it all for you

The last thing you want is to go for a budget-friendly option that causes you embarrassment and stress on your big day. Here are some tips for finding the best wedding caterers to suit your finances as well as your expectations.

1. Work Out the Details

Unless you have friends and relatives in the industry, attempting to arrange the meals for your wedding on your own is a recipe for disaster.  You’ve got enough on your plate.

The earlier you find and book a wedding caterer the better. That said, there’s no point in looking for a caterer until you’ve worked out the following details:

Budget

Naturally, your wedding budget is the starting point for all your preparations. Be sure to allocate funds for food high on the list and not as an afterthought.

Guests

The type of catering you can afford hinges on how many mouths you have to feed. It’s also one of the first questions a wedding caterer is going to ask you. The sooner you get your invitations out, the sooner you’ll have final numbers to work with.

Venue

Different venues accommodate different dining styles and some have a list of preferred suppliers. When you’re searching for a place to host your big day, discuss these options with them before you book.

Theme

Serving food that fits in with the overall theme of your wedding is always a memorable touch. If you’re throwing a ballroom reception, a set menu or buffet is perfect. Yet this kind of food isn’t always the best choice for an outdoor beach-themed function.

Food trucks are a less formal wedding catering option that is better suited to this kind of wedding.

2. Do Your Research

The first port of call when it comes to finding wedding caterers is the venue itself. It makes sense to get suggestions from the place that’s seen and done it all when it comes to catering in their venue.

Recently married friends can also help with advice and guidance as can personal experience. If you really loved the food at a recent wedding you’ve attended, why not use the same caterer?

3. Important Questions to Ask a Wedding Caterer

There are several things you want to find out before committing to a caterer. These are some of the less obvious ones that are often overlooked:

  • Do you have the required licenses to cater my wedding?
  • Are there any additional fees for corkage, service, gratuities, etc?
  • Will I need to arrange any additional permits for my event?
  • Will you provide an onsite catering manager during the event?
  • Do they have  Plan B for any unforeseen eventualities like rain?
  • Can they cater to the needs of guests with specific dietary requirements?

Once you’ve cleared up these issues, you can go on to the more specific items on your checklist.

4. Discuss Your Options

Be open-minded when it comes to choosing your menu options. Ask to see all their proposals, even if you have your heart set on a particular catering style. You could stumble upon a unique and cost-effective menu that you’d never considered.

Find out what’s included in their service and ask if they can provide additional items like a wedding cake.

5. Ask to See A Typical Contract

Before you meet go to all the trouble of meeting with a caterer, ask to see a sample of one of their contracts. This gives you time to go through the fine print at your leisure.

This way, when you finally meet with their consultant, you’ll have a clear idea of their expectations and any questions you’d like to ask.

6. Schedule an Interview

Thanks to all the steps above you should have a good idea of which caterer is likely to fit the bill.

Arrange to meet with them at the venue to discuss the finer details of your wedding. This way, if they have any questions about the facilities available, the answers will be right there.

This in-person interview will give you a good idea of their efficiency and abilities. It also allows you to gauge whether you feel comfortable working with them or not.

Before you leave, ask them to provide a rough outline in writing of everything you’ve discussed as well as a quotation.

7. Do Some More Research

Don’t take everything at face value. Ask the caterer if you contact some of their previous clients for a reference. This will also give you a chance to discuss anything you haven’t thought of.

Online reviews are a great way to get more information about wedding caterers service and performance on the day. If you do come across a negative review, pay attention to how the caterer resolved the issue, if at all.

8. Don’t Limit Your Options

You can never have too many choices when it comes to wedding caterers. Get proposals from as many providers as you can and compare costs.

It’s important to remember that cost isn’t everything. You should also take into account how promptly and courteously the catering company answered your queries, and whether they considered your needs first.

9.  Eat the Food First

Once you’ve compiled a final shortlist of three caterers, make arrangements to sample your chosen menu before you commit. Be sure to check that you’ll have the same team cooking for you on the day.

After that it really comes down to whose food you enjoyed the most, it’s your special day after all.

A Final Word on Wedding Planning

Having the right wedding caterer on your side makes planning a breeze. You can relax, confident that they’ll take it all in their stride.

That leaves you free to focus on the more exciting aspects of your upcoming nuptials, like planning your honeymoon. Check out our blog for some destination inspiration.

Tips on Choosing Accommodation for Your Next Trip

May 27, 2019

These days, online reservations are common. You do not need to call the company or go to the location before you finalise the booking, especially for hotels and other accommodation options. You can go to the hotel’s website or use third-party apps. Either way, you will quickly get a room. Remember these tips as you decide to book your room online.

Compare the prices

Do not immediately book the first room that you find. Make sure that you compare all the available choices in the area. It also helps if you look at different third-party apps since the same hotel room might be less expensive in one app than in another. Do not forget to go directly to the hotel website too since there could be exclusive deals you will not see unless you go there.

Register as a member

You can always book a hotel room as a guest. Whether you choose to book directly with the hotel or through third-party apps, you can do so without the need to be a member. However, if you register, you might receive exclusive deals that are not available to non-members. You will also receive notifications if there are upcoming promotions. It is also possible to earn points that will help reduce the expenses on your next reservation.

Read reviews

You might have to be cautious when reading reviews since they could be somewhat biased, but they are helpful. Read reviews made by verified members since their reviews are reliable. Some sites have user ratings that collect the average scores of all members, but if the ratings are open to everyone, the numbers might not accurately reflect how people feel.

Reserve soon

When you want to get cheap accommodation prices, you need to hurry up finalising the reservation. Some people might tell you to wait since there is a chance that the hotel will offer discounts before your trip. It is most likely not going to happen though. By the time that you are ready to reserve, the price might have already skyrocketed.

Check the map

If you are yet to visit the city and you do not know where your hotel is, you can check the map. Make sure that it is within walking distance from bus terminals and train stations. It will be easier for you to move around the place during your trip when the hotel is accessible.

Look at other choices too

Although you can find lots of stunning hotels, they might not be ideal if the goal is to save money. You can consider apartments or aparthotels. They are cheaper than regular hotel rooms, but you will not feel discomfort. As long as you choose the best place to stay and you read the reviews, you will not go wrong. You can consider a Native Aparthotel in Hyde Park if you are visiting the site soon.

Take your time to find the perfect place to stay, and when you see it, book it right away.

5 Legendary Gin-based Cocktails you Should Know How to Make at Home

May 27, 2019

As a flavored spirit, the gin is distilled with botanicals, mostly juniper, coriander seeds and citrus peel. If you keep the stopper, your gin will last, but if you leave a pourer in the bottle, then consider it “angel’s share”. Due to evaporation some of the liquid will disappear.

The popularity of gin is growing fast lately, even though it has been a standard in bars starting from the 18th century. It is an extremely interesting liquor to explore. The botanicals give it unique attributes that distinct gin from other liquors, but also one brand can have totally different flavor from another.

Most famous gin-based Cocktails

Here are some of the essential gin cocktails, some more popular than the others, but equally good. The fun thing about gin is that it comes as a natural option for easy drinks with fascinating flavors. As the following drinks will show, gin is best mixed with one or two flavors. The range of strength and flavors is covered for whatever you are looking for.

Classic Gin Martini

Let’s start with the fact that a real Martini requires gin. The simplicity of the structure is what gives the Martini’s glory. So, if you want to make the Classic Gin Martini, you don’t need much. Gin and dry vermouth, mixed in proportions as you prefer, stirred not shaken. The recipe is very simple and the best part is that you can feel free to customize it as you enjoy it the best. Serve it at its coldest.

· 60ml dry gin (optional)

· Dry vermouth (to taste)

Put ice in a mixing glass. Add vermouth, just have in mind that the more vermouth you will pour, more herbal the cocktail will be. Stir for a few seconds and add the gin. Stir thoroughly and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon or orange curl, olives or pickled onions, the choice is all yours.

French 75

If you want to live up the party or simply to keep it going, all you need is French 75. Not the gun, of course. It is a classic festive cocktail, a bubbly and elegant combination made of gin, lemon juice and Champagne (instead of club soda), probably named after 75mms field gun from World War I. Refreshing and herbal and very easy to prepare.

· 40 ml dry gin

· 25 ml fresh lemon juice

· 15 ml sugar syrup

· Champagne

Put the gin, lemon juice and sugar syrup in a shaker filled with ice. Shake it well and then strain in a Champagne flute. Add chilled Champagne, stir gently and garnish with a long lemon peel and a cocktail cherry. And you got yourself a drink to celebrate!

Negroni

This mix was created in Florence, Italy in the 1920s. It is believed that it takes 3 Negronis (not in a row, though) to realize that you like this cocktail. Its structure is filled with bitter-sweet flavors and herbal notes, truly refreshing. It’s composed of gin, Campari and vermouth.

· 25 ml gin

· 25 ml Campari

· 25 ml sweet vermouth

Put ice in a mixing glass. Add the gin, Campari and vermouth and stir to combine them well. Then stir in a chilled rock glass. Twist orange over the drink and garnish with it.

Gimlet

Its origins are unknown, but it is believed that this drink was created for sailors to fight scurvy. A sweet and sour combination made of gin and lime cordial. Gimlet is a simple and refreshing cocktail, very easy to make.

· 60 ml gin

· 25 ml lime juice

· 10 ml sugar syrup

Combine gin, lime juice and sugar syrup in a shaker. Shake it well, but gently. Strain into a chilled glass and garnish with lime wedge. It is meant to be enjoyed slowly, by sipping it in order to feel the beauty of its simplicity.

Sloe Gin Fizz

Sloe gin is liquor made with gin and sloe (blackthorn) and sugar. Sloe gin fizz is the most complexed drink out of these 5. But still, it is easy to make. Only you will need to shake it really well. It is known as a perfect combination for Champagne and a bubbly relative of Tom Collins (if you are a fan).

· 50 ml sloe gin

· 20 ml fresh lemon juice

· 15 ml sugar syrup

· 20 ml egg white

· Champagne

Add the sloe gin, lemon juice, sugar syrup and egg white in a shaker and dry-shake it, meaning no ice, for about 10 seconds. Add ice cubes and shake it well. Then double-strain into a glass filled with ice and top up with Champagne. Gently stir. Decorate with a rosemary sprig above or garnish with mint and blueberries.

It’s all about Gin!

Whether you are a gin lover or not, this 5 cocktails will definitely reach your senses. So, you like gin, just maybe you don’t know it yet.

Traveling to the UK? 7 Essential Things to Know Before Hiring an Escort

May 25, 2019

Are you traveling to the United Kingdom anytime soon?

The United Kingdom is a great choice for a vacation around this time of year if you’re looking to escape the summer heat. The food is fantastic, tourist spots are both plentiful and beautiful, the urban centers offer a lot of entertainment, and best of all, the women are beautiful.

During your stay, you may feel the nights are cold when you’re alone. You can try your hand at wooing one of the locals at the bar or club and find little success. On the other hand, hiring an escort may be more to your liking instead.

Escort services are a great way to ensure you won’t spend another night alone and cold. How to find an escort, you ask? Read what’s below to know everything you need to know about finding escort services and hiring escorts in the United Kingdom.

1. Escort Services are Legal in the UK

The first thing you should know about escort services in the UK is that they’re all legal. In fact, the general idea of sex work is acceptable and even recognized as a business in the country. This means you don’t have to worry about escorts being undercover cops.

This also means escort services as a business flourish in the UK. You’ll likely have a lot of agencies and companies to choose from. Its acceptance is also a benefit for you as it means you’ll be able to inquire about these services without the worry of arrest.

For the most part, they’ll direct you online to check out websites. There are also office buildings to set up your appointment with an escort though. The private space of an office is important as, while prostitution is legal in the UK, solicitation in public and other acts are not.

2. Escort Services are Not Cheap

If it’s your first time to hire an escort, you should know they are quite expensive to hire. For the most part, agencies will charge you by the hour. The prices will depend on the woman but on average, an escort costs around $200 an hour.

Some will cost more, going up to $500 by the hour. Rest assured though, you’ll get your money’s worth by the end of your appointment. Agencies set the prices of their women based on their skill and the service they’re capable of providing.

You can trust your money doesn’t go wasted when you hire an escort through an agency. Independent escorts are a different story though. For the most part, they also desire payment by the hour. What sets them apart though is they’re in control of their business, so they decide the final payment method before closing a deal.

When hiring independent services, make sure to bring only the agreed upon sum and half of that more. They’re quite persuasive and doing this is a great way to prevent yourself from spending all your hard-earned money during your stay in the United Kingdom.

3. The Credibility of the Escort Service

It’s easy to get a hold of these services especially when the law isn’t against it. However, a lot of people have a lot of complaints about the service they got. Some claim the service wasn’t high-end while some say it wasn’t worth what they paid for.

All these complaints are due to a lack of research on the service they’re making a deal with. As mentioned above, most if not all escort services have their own website in the UK. You can gauge the credibility of service with ease with only a quick look at their website.

A credible escort agency will have a detailed description of their ladies on their website. They’ll also have a long list of ladies for you to choose from like how this useful site does. Having many escorts in their service means they’re reputable enough to have others sign on with them.

4. Reviews on Their Website

Reviews are another way you can check the credibility of an agency. When finding escorts to hire though, reviews give you all the information you need.

The few brave enough to share their experience with an escort often talk about their performance. You can use these reviews to get to know the woman you want to make a deal with.

5. Age of the Escort

During your stay in the UK, you don’t want to hire a minor by accident and get banned from the country. You’re going to want to look up the ages of the ladies you take a liking to.

Agencies will never hire a minor, so you can rest easy when dealing with them. Independent escorts though may lie about their age to get some business going. This is why it’s a good idea to ask for an ID when you do meet up with your date.

To give you a sense of what’s alright, the legal age of consent in the UK is 16. It’s up to you whether you’ll agree or go with another escort at that point.

6. Location of the Meet Up

If it’s your first time to hire an escort, you may feel nervous going out of your comfort zone to meet at her place. Don’t worry though, they’ll often ask if you’re more comfortable with an outcall or incall service.

An outcall service is when the escort comes to your house, apartment, flat, or hotel room. This is what you may be comfortable with if it’s your first time hiring an escort.

Incall, on the other hand, is when you go to their place instead. This is popular among independent escorts and is also a good option if you don’t have an ideal place yourself.

If they don’t offer the choice or forget to do so, you can make an agreement before finalizing the deal. They’re often accommodating if they can tell you’re nervous.

7. Boundaries, Language and Etiquette

Escorts put their safety above all else in this business. If they feel uncomfortable with something you’re doing, they reserve the right to call the deal off. You should respect their boundaries to them to make them feel comfortable during the date.

They’ll often talk about boundaries before closing the deal with you. Be attentive if they list down what they’re not comfortable with as they won’t hesitate to end the night if crossed. If you want to do something specific with them, ask them first so they won’t get surprised later on.

For these requests, it’s worth knowing some of the slang to make it easier to communicate what you want. For example, GFE means girlfriend experience for those looking for a romantic setting, PSE is for the porn star experience, opposite to the GFE, OWO stands for oral without, meaning only oral sex and nothing else, and RO stands for reverse oral if you feel like giving rather than receiving.

It’s also an unspoken rule to be courteous and confident during the date. This not only makes them comfortable, but it may also attract them to you. This makes it possible to get more than what you paid for when it’s show time.

Know the Essentials When It Comes to Hiring an Escort

Hire the best London escorts today and complete your vacation to the UK. Keep these things in mind and you’ll have the experience the best of escort services when it’s show time. Hire an escort today!

Hiring an escort won’t complete your vacation but it will get it closer to being the best. Check out our other blog posts to make the most of your trip to the UK.

Chic and Sleek: Four Charming Pieces that Can Elevate Your Home Design

May 24, 2019

Designing a beautiful space requires careful selection of furniture and accessories. These should create a juxtaposition of old and new pieces to make the right balance between chic and sleek. Here are key pieces to incorporate in any home design.

An Antique Piece

An antique is a piece of object that is at least 100 years old. The perfect antique pieces for this would be Gustavian furniture that was made in the 1700s. These pieces have an elegant, washed out surface design, which gives it a lot of character and flair. These pieces are sure to add a lot of personality and charm into space, but with an understated and subtle effect, creating a seamless and sleek overall look.

Popular items include coffee tables, commodes, cabinets, secretaries, and drawers. Not only are these decorative, but they are also functional, as these can be used as storage equipment. These can help you organize and decorate your space at the same time. These decorative pieces can freshen up furniture, liven up a room in an instant, and keep it clutter-free, too.

A Vintage Piece

You could add a vintage piece. These are considered period pieces that came out from the year 1960 up to 1979. Today, these items would be between 40 and 59 years old. There are plenty of beautiful furniture pieces from this time, and the styles can easily blend with today’s modern spaces.

These pieces give off an old school mood that is fun, funky, and quirky, but all in the right doses. Popular items include bar carts, accent chairs, wooden desks, and wall accents like clocks and artwork. Vintage pieces give off an elegant vibe that lends any space a sophisticated look.

A Retro Piece

These are also considered period pieces, but these ones came out earlier than the vintage era and were created from 1950 to 1959. Some of the popular pieces include decorative repurposed appliances, chairs lighting equipment, and some colorful and unique artwork and paintings. Today, these pieces would be at least 68 years old.

An old TV cabinet, for example, is usually repurposed into a sideboard. It can also be old musical instruments that your grandparents or even your parents used, like a turntable, an old piano, or an old guitar. These items give your space a retro vibe with a romantic touch.

A Collectible Piece

Last but not the least are collectibles. These come in the form of toys, paintings, glass pieces, chandeliers, and small decorative pieces for a coffee table or cabinet display. One unique idea is building a time capsule, where items from the past are collected for future generations to see. This will give them a glimpse of how things were designed and what they were used for in the past. It’s a fun way to collect old things because it’s not only educational but also has a personal touch.

Beautiful spaces aren’t always filled with new things. Creating a sleek and chic space is equal parts new school and old school. These four design pieces highlight your style. It also adds a great way to reference different period styles that give your space its uniqueness and character that truly reflects your taste and style.

Travel and Drugs: What You Need to Know

May 22, 2019

If you’re a fan of beer, you’re no stranger to mind-altering substances. It may seem like common sense to avoid recreational drugs while you’re abroad, but drug laws may seem extra lax in certain places around the world. And if you find yourself in a place where the authorities seem to look the other way, and you’ve been invited to a local party where there are drugs, you may be tempted.

While by no means a legal guide, this article aims to shed some much-needed light on the topic of drugs and travel.

Prescription drug laws vary around the world.

First things first: let’s talk about prescription medications. Different countries have very different laws surrounding prescription drugs. Sometimes, even drugs available over-the-counter in the U.S. are banned in certain countries. For example, certain allergy and sinus medications are banned in Japan.

Many Americans don’t give a second thought when packing their flight-anxiety-prescribed XANAX®, but double check the laws of your destination before you do.

Some countries dole out very strict punishments — including capital punishment — if you are suspected of drug-trafficking. This is especially important to note if you take psychotropic medications (such as XANAX®) or prescription opioid painkillers. The International Association for Medical Assistance to Travellers has more detailed information about this issue.

Don’t risk it. Check before you go. If in doubt, call the local embassy.

Avoid medical tourism.

Healthcare in the United States is notoriously expensive. No doubt some Americans want to save money by buying prescription drugs abroad or even undergoing medical procedures abroad. While the savings may be enticing, medical tourism comes with a high degree of risk. For one, language barriers can cause misunderstandings that can result in very serious consequences. And bringing medication back across the U.S. border can land you into trouble too.

One alternative to buying prescription drugs abroad is to use a pharmacy referral service like Canada Pharmacy Delivery. A website like this connects American patients to licensed pharmacies in countries where medicine is substantially cheaper, such as Canada. You don’t even need to leave home! Simply ship medicine to your doorstep. While you can’t get drugs like XANAX®, which is a controlled substance, you can still find plenty of popular medications like Jardiance® (empagliflozin).

Double check the law.

Some places in the world have a reputation for having loose drug laws. You may even hear people tell you some things are legal in a country when they are not. A good example of this is the Netherlands.

Contrary to popular belief, cannabis (marijuana) is illegal in the Netherlands. So why is it that when you go to Amsterdam there are “coffee shops” everywhere with tourists merrily toking away? It’s because Amsterdam has its own “tolerance policy” where the law is not enforced when it comes to coffee shops. According to Wikipedia’s legality-by-country chart, as of May 2019, the only places where cannabis is 100% legal for recreational use and sale are Uruguay, Canada, and select states in America.

Better safe than sorry!

Your trip may be one of the most memorable events of your life, so don’t ruin it by using drugs in a country where the consequences can be dire. Your status as a foreigner won’t protect you, and your country’s embassy may be limited in its ability to help too.

If you take prescription drugs, always bring them in their original container, complete with your prescription, a clear label of the drug, and your physician’s signature. And research any additional protocols you have to adhere to when entering a country.

Fortunately, beer is legal and welcome in most places around the world! Still, it’s not wise to get too intoxicated and wind up lost in a foreign country… Enjoy an exciting adventure, but always make sure it’s a wise one.
