A Brief Tour Guide Through Polish Biggest Party hub

June 4, 2019

The second largest city in Poland lives on the banks of the Vistula River and was for many years the capital of the country. Although for many it remains the most important artistic and cultural center. It is also an important Erasmus city.

Fortunately, this city didn’t have the same fortune as Warsaw and its historic center remain one of the most beautiful in Europe, thanks to Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance constructions. Its historic city center is also a World Heritage Site since 1978.

One thing that first captures the eye of the foreigners who arrive from far away is how European cities are pedestrian oriented. This is the case in almost all Central European countries and the same can be very much said for Krakow. It is a very comfortable city to have a long walk both during day and night, with hardly any traffic and many pedestrian streets that thrive from party spirit.

A City to Have a Long Walk and Unforgettable Fun

Krakow as the city who has more pubs and bars per square meter than any other city in the world proves to be the best party spot in EU for unforgetable Krakow stag do nights. So many people who arrive instantly go downtown for a bustling party downtown and adventure through the magnificent city center. That historical city center in is surrounded by a quiet garden that puts the area under the shade in summer or makes it frozen during the snow season. In the nearby area the most emblematic symbol of Krakow arises; the gothic St. Mary’s Basilica that shines in the immense market square.

In this church, every hour the trumpet is played from two of the windows of the tower. Professional musicians do it, hired for this special duty. The other building that will instantly catch your eye is the Castle and the cathedral on the Wawel hill. It is a place full of history, surrounded by gardens and the former residence of the Polish monarchy.

In fact, Krakow is full of memories, streets, and buildings that evoke ancient times in which the city was the capital of a powerful monarchy. Contrary to what it might seem, it is not a city saturated by tourists. There are many but you will never hear a noisy horde of tourists anywhere. If you arrive for the first time then It’s mandatory to get lost in its streets! That way you will surprisingly discover many secret gems that this historical place hides so well. Visit the university where Copernicus studied and take a long walk while observing the details of the old buildings from the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries.

Like many other countries in this part of Europe, Poland also has a recent and tragic history. Just a few kilometers away there are one of the largest Nazi concentration camps, Auschwitz and Birkenau. The visit, although hard to stomach is also mandatory.

Many Interesting Sites to Be Seen in Just One Day

The Germans wanted to erase any Polish mark and tried to change the names of all the streets, in addition to sending to concentration camps almost all the Jews of the city. As you might have already heard, some of them were saved by Oskar Schindler, the famous businessman from the legendary film Schindler’s List. His factory is in Krakow and you can visit it if you find this fascinating like thousands of visitors. When the Soviets arrived they occupied the city and, in spite of the local opposition, Poland happened to be governed under a communist government for 40 years.

Krakow is also the city of John Paul II, who for many Poles was one of the architects of their fight for national identity. During the Soviet rule, Karol Wojtyła was an archbishop of the city with many followers. His appointment as pope rekindled the hope of the Poles for regaining their autonomy. They say that each time he visited the city as Pope, he went out to the balcony of his room to make talk to the residents below him.

On his first visit to the city, the Vatican had to negotiate certain limits with the Soviet Government as his arrival was perceived as of huge importance to Polish people. Close to Krakow, there is also the old Wieliczka salt mine, now a tourist center with restaurant, rooms for celebrations, hotels, spas, and visits within the mine. Tickets can be contracted online or in person, although this must be done in advance.

When it’s time to eat in Krakow, I recommend you get as far away as possible from the center or at least from the Market Square, where there are some good restaurants but they are all very expensive. You will find traditional Polish food everywhere and many places with Italian food hide around every corner. There are also supermarkets wherever you go in case you prefer to prepare something to snack or eat while visiting the city.

In Conclusion:

Anyone seeking the opportunity to party in the somewhat different and pretty much-unexplored city is welcome to try its luck with Krakow. Not only that, Poland is increasingly becoming one of the best spots in Eastern Europe for those parties that simply never end in one day, and best of all the paycheck at the end will make you wish to come again as soon as possible. It’s highly advisable to visit this magnificent historical place as soon as possible before it becomes overrun by hordes of tourists.

Tips on Choosing Accommodation for Your Next Trip

May 27, 2019

These days, online reservations are common. You do not need to call the company or go to the location before you finalise the booking, especially for hotels and other accommodation options. You can go to the hotel’s website or use third-party apps. Either way, you will quickly get a room. Remember these tips as you decide to book your room online.

Compare the prices

Do not immediately book the first room that you find. Make sure that you compare all the available choices in the area. It also helps if you look at different third-party apps since the same hotel room might be less expensive in one app than in another. Do not forget to go directly to the hotel website too since there could be exclusive deals you will not see unless you go there.

Register as a member

You can always book a hotel room as a guest. Whether you choose to book directly with the hotel or through third-party apps, you can do so without the need to be a member. However, if you register, you might receive exclusive deals that are not available to non-members. You will also receive notifications if there are upcoming promotions. It is also possible to earn points that will help reduce the expenses on your next reservation.

Read reviews

You might have to be cautious when reading reviews since they could be somewhat biased, but they are helpful. Read reviews made by verified members since their reviews are reliable. Some sites have user ratings that collect the average scores of all members, but if the ratings are open to everyone, the numbers might not accurately reflect how people feel.

Reserve soon

When you want to get cheap accommodation prices, you need to hurry up finalising the reservation. Some people might tell you to wait since there is a chance that the hotel will offer discounts before your trip. It is most likely not going to happen though. By the time that you are ready to reserve, the price might have already skyrocketed.

Check the map

If you are yet to visit the city and you do not know where your hotel is, you can check the map. Make sure that it is within walking distance from bus terminals and train stations. It will be easier for you to move around the place during your trip when the hotel is accessible.

Look at other choices too

Although you can find lots of stunning hotels, they might not be ideal if the goal is to save money. You can consider apartments or aparthotels. They are cheaper than regular hotel rooms, but you will not feel discomfort. As long as you choose the best place to stay and you read the reviews, you will not go wrong. You can consider a Native Aparthotel in Hyde Park if you are visiting the site soon.

Take your time to find the perfect place to stay, and when you see it, book it right away.

Travel and Drugs: What You Need to Know

May 22, 2019

If you’re a fan of beer, you’re no stranger to mind-altering substances. It may seem like common sense to avoid recreational drugs while you’re abroad, but drug laws may seem extra lax in certain places around the world. And if you find yourself in a place where the authorities seem to look the other way, and you’ve been invited to a local party where there are drugs, you may be tempted.

While by no means a legal guide, this article aims to shed some much-needed light on the topic of drugs and travel.

Prescription drug laws vary around the world.

First things first: let’s talk about prescription medications. Different countries have very different laws surrounding prescription drugs. Sometimes, even drugs available over-the-counter in the U.S. are banned in certain countries. For example, certain allergy and sinus medications are banned in Japan.

Many Americans don’t give a second thought when packing their flight-anxiety-prescribed XANAX®, but double check the laws of your destination before you do.

Some countries dole out very strict punishments — including capital punishment — if you are suspected of drug-trafficking. This is especially important to note if you take psychotropic medications (such as XANAX®) or prescription opioid painkillers. The International Association for Medical Assistance to Travellers has more detailed information about this issue.

Don’t risk it. Check before you go. If in doubt, call the local embassy.

Avoid medical tourism.

Healthcare in the United States is notoriously expensive. No doubt some Americans want to save money by buying prescription drugs abroad or even undergoing medical procedures abroad. While the savings may be enticing, medical tourism comes with a high degree of risk. For one, language barriers can cause misunderstandings that can result in very serious consequences. And bringing medication back across the U.S. border can land you into trouble too.

One alternative to buying prescription drugs abroad is to use a pharmacy referral service like Canada Pharmacy Delivery. A website like this connects American patients to licensed pharmacies in countries where medicine is substantially cheaper, such as Canada. You don’t even need to leave home! Simply ship medicine to your doorstep. While you can’t get drugs like XANAX®, which is a controlled substance, you can still find plenty of popular medications like Jardiance® (empagliflozin).

Double check the law.

Some places in the world have a reputation for having loose drug laws. You may even hear people tell you some things are legal in a country when they are not. A good example of this is the Netherlands.

Contrary to popular belief, cannabis (marijuana) is illegal in the Netherlands. So why is it that when you go to Amsterdam there are “coffee shops” everywhere with tourists merrily toking away? It’s because Amsterdam has its own “tolerance policy” where the law is not enforced when it comes to coffee shops. According to Wikipedia’s legality-by-country chart, as of May 2019, the only places where cannabis is 100% legal for recreational use and sale are Uruguay, Canada, and select states in America.

Better safe than sorry!

Your trip may be one of the most memorable events of your life, so don’t ruin it by using drugs in a country where the consequences can be dire. Your status as a foreigner won’t protect you, and your country’s embassy may be limited in its ability to help too.

If you take prescription drugs, always bring them in their original container, complete with your prescription, a clear label of the drug, and your physician’s signature. And research any additional protocols you have to adhere to when entering a country.

Fortunately, beer is legal and welcome in most places around the world! Still, it’s not wise to get too intoxicated and wind up lost in a foreign country… Enjoy an exciting adventure, but always make sure it’s a wise one.

What to Pack for an Exotic River Cruise

May 15, 2019

When you think about river cruises, you probably imagine luxurious suites, massages and spas all day round, top of the class cuisine, five-star restaurants, etc. However, if you are packing for an exotic river cruise, make sure not to let this luxury go to your head.

The adventure that awaits requires you to pack smart! So, leave the fancy clothes for those onboard dinners, and start packing the essentials you’ll need on your expeditions!

Source: Pixabay

Keep in mind that river cruises usually have a more casual dress code than other cruises. Of course, you can expect that your dress code quite different if you are going on an Amazon river cruise, per se, than it would be if you were cruising through Europe.

Now, this tip is something that can come in handy if you are planning on visiting Europe. While the rest of the world may think them to be fashionable at all times, the truth is that most Europeans prefer being comfortable rather than fancy. So, if you are packing for Europe, you can forget the high heels, dinner dresses, and blazers, and pack anything you feel good wearing.

But hey, that’s not what we’re here for! You are packing for an exotic river cruise and you will want to make sure that you come prepared, right? Well, luckily for you, we’ve prepared this simple guide that will help you gather your essentials and pack them in no time. In the next couple of minutes, you’ll see that packing even for an exotic trip as the one you’re just about to go to isn’t as hard as you may have imagined!

So without further ado, let’s get packing!

Clothes and footwear

Of course, if you are going on an exotic river cruise, you should start preparing for the trip at least a week before. If your closet is not exactly full of clothes that scream ‘expedition’ when you see them, you should probably go shopping as soon as possible.

You will be looking for lots of long sleeves and long pants made out of breathable and dry-fit materials. Also, make sure that the clothes you buy are light-colored and loose-fitting. Now, this may sound incredibly specific to you right now, but you’ll thank us once you’re fully protected from the mosquitoes and the sun.

Both your clothing and your footwear should be comfortable enough to wear throughout the numerous expeditions you’ll be going on. Speaking of footwear, you should try to find a pair of shoes that is extremely comfy and water-resistant. Also, consider packing a pair of rubber boots!

As for the headwear, note that a wide-brimmed hat is a must! Make sure that it covers your shoulders in order to fully protect you from the sun. Who would want to have to deal with sunburns while on the adventure of a lifetime, right?

Lifestraw

You may or may not have already heard about this product, but Lifestraw is definitely something that you will want to have if you are going on an exotic river cruise. Such cruises take place in areas that often do not have a source of clean drinking water, so you’ll want to make sure that you’re all set wherever you go!

Ziploc bags

Rivers’ climate is quite humid and you’ll want to keep your belongings safe and dry at all times, which is why you should make sure to stack up on plastic Ziploc bags. Y

ou can use them for just about anything you can think of – to store away your electronics, to keep an outfit for your flight back home dry, or to make sure that your personal documents don’t get wet.

Source: Pixabay

Other essentials

Along with the aforementioned things you should make sure to bring along, we’ve prepared some extra tips for packing. The first thing that you should keep in mind is that both your cruise ship and your travel destination probably won’t be stacked with ATMs, so the best thing to do is to bring cash.

Other than this, you should also stack up on bug spray. Since the climate will be humid, you can expect to be surrounded with all sorts of insects, so don’t let them spoil your time on the ship or on the expeditions!

Of course, before even thinking about going on an exotic river cruise, make sure that you got all the inoculations and that you have packed all the medication you need. And of course, bringing some medication for an upset stomach is always a good idea too!

See, packing for an exotic cruise isn’t that hard! Just make sure to start packing at least a week before you hit the road and, the chances are, you’ll definitely be ready to go. Enjoy your next adventure!

North East India Tourism – Making the Most of Your Vacation

May 14, 2019

C:\Users\Administrator\Downloads\barsey.jpg

If you are currently considering going on vacation and you are still not sure where exactly your destination should be, you are in the right place. Your vacation time should be a combination of rest, healthy activities, rejuvenation, fun and most importantly a break from the hustle and bustle of our day to day activities. This is according to the definition of tourism here.

There are so many great tourist destinations around the world with some of them more popular than others. The main consideration when choosing a destination for your vacation should not be its popularity but the value it offers.

Staying away from the beating paths of European tourist sites, we want to introduce the North East of India with its exotic, natural and breathtaking tourist destinations. Hopefully after you have read this, you will gladly decide that your next vacation will be to this area.

What’s Special About this Region?

C:\Users\Administrator\Downloads\meghalaya-monsoon.jpg

This region is located in the far east of India and it covers a land area of 262,230 km2, sharing border lines with Tibet, China, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan at different points.

Eight of the 29 states in India are located within this region. These include: Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura. Their population is put at approximately 45,772,188 with a density of about 170 per square kilometer.

This region hosts some of the most amazing natural tourist sites you may have ever come across and we will mention a few of them here.

Planning Your Vacation

C:\Users\Administrator\Downloads\Planning your vacation.jpg

If you are planning your vacation and want to go on a trip to the north east of India, there are a few things you should be aware of to ensure your trip goes without a hitch. We will discuss at a couple of the more important ones below.

When Best to Visit

You do not want to visit this area at certain times of the year. The best time for a visit to any of the locations that can be found in any of the states in this region is between the months of October to May, precisely, the middle of May.

The reason for this is quite simple. During these months, weather conditions are mostly dry with a few rain showers every now and again. However, from the month of June to September which is the monsoon season, there are heavy rains in many parts of the region. In fact, some areas get up to 10,000 mm of rain in 24 hours. This is sure to ruin any vacation plans unless the plans include experiencing the region’s monsoon season.

For temperatures, between October and May, the temperature will differ widely from place to place and from month to month. Around January, temperatures in the mountain regions of Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya and Nagaland will range from sub-zero to about 14 °C. This will be a bit higher in other places. During the summer days, temperatures in the plains range from 30 to 33 °C while in the hills it hovers around 20 °C but could go as low as 15 °C.

With this, you can plan your trip for the right time.

Where to Visit

Now this is the fun part. There are tons of locations you can visit in India’s north east region. All over the eight states in the region you have about 20 national parks where you can find a widely varied selection of fauna and flora. Across these national parks, some of which are also wildlife reserves, you will also find a couple of the most uncommon species in the world, as well as a couple of the most endangered ones.

Examples include the Namdapha National Park, Kaziranga National Park, Orang National Park, Manas National Park, Dibru-Saikhowa National Park and others.

Aside from national parks, you also have over a dozen waterfalls, 15 to be precise, spread across about four states in this region. The highest of these water falls, Nohkalikai Falls, measures about 1,120 feet in height.

The region is also renowned for its highlands. There are about 16 hills in the region including the 8,586 meter Kangchenjunga Mountains which is the third highest mountain worldwide.

The region has two river islands and both have global significance. The first, Majuli river island is the largest in the world while Umananda Island is the smallest inhabited one. This is a very interested contrast.

There’s no end to the tourism potentials of this region. Aside from natural locations like the ones mentioned above, you also have sites like monasteries and events like festivals and the likes.

Vacation Packages

So, how do you go about visiting these areas? Your best bet is to find a company that offers north east India tours. These tour packages are designed to maximize your time in the region, ensuring you experience as much of the region as you possibly can within the time you have to spend there.

There are usually different kinds of packages to choose from. You have Treks which are just right for people who love hiking through nature. These treks are planned through different trails. All you are required to do is choose the trail you fancy the most.

There are also custom tours that can be specially designed for an individual or group based on interest. A custom tour can include any mix of activities but will also likely cost more.

One interesting package is what some companies refer to as Home Stay. The purpose of this package is to allow the tourists spend some time with locals, observing their way of life and day to day activities. There are no hotels or resorts, you simply bunk down with the locals.

The options to choose from are wide and varied, offering each person an opportunity to choose a package that really reflects their interest.

Conclusion

If you want to know all you can about the tourism sites and events in India’s north east, you can check here: http://northeasttourism.gov.in/. One thing that is however certain is that the north east of India is gradually emerging as the toast of global tourism.

Just take some time to find a suitable tour company, look through their packages and choose the one that interests you the most. You can always choose a different package on your next vacation. Experience north east India and experience life untainted by man’s exploitation of nature.

Picking The Best Wildlife Adventure Boat Cruise in Scotland

April 20, 2019

Is there anyone who doesn’t like cruising? Maybe a few. Anyway, when it comes to cruising, your choice of boat can determine whether you are going to enjoy your experience or not. This decision usually depends on you and the person you will be traveling with if any.

Well, as it is with any other cruise boats, you will always get to experience both the good and the bad side. With that being said, let’s look at a few things you might want to look at in order to pick the best wildlife cruise.

  • Kids

If you thought cruising was only meant for the grown folks, then you thought wrong. Children also love cruises just as much as we do. Therefore, if you are planing on cruising with your family, then you should consider going for the family cruises, those that are able to cater for your kids too.

Allow your kids to have a great cruising experience by picking a good cruise boat with state of art facilities for them. The wildlife cruise operator will be more than happy to show you the kids section. We all know when kids are happy the entire family is also happy, right?

This is why you need to pick a wildlife cruise ship that will take care of everyone’s needs just in case you will be having your family with you.

  • Age limits

Before you go ahead to pick a cruise boat, you also need to check the age limits allowed by the ships. This will help you to avoid last minute disappointments when you reach there and you are told you can’t get in with your baby.

Some ships usually don’t allow babies who are under 6 months old on board. Others have an age limit of 1 year.

Also, just in case you are going to get luxury cruise ship, you need to know that most of them often do not allow kids bellow the age of 14. Make sure to always check the age limit allowed on board.

  • Cost

Another important thing to consider would definitely be what it will cost you to go for your trip. Well, just like the hotels, cruises also come with different packages in terms of prices. There are some cruises that will charge you as little as $400 for a week while others can go as high as $1000 per day.

The rates also varies with different seasons as they tend to go a bit hire during the peak seasons. Another thing worth noting, is that for different cruises, you will find that the costs of different packages also depends on whether you are traveling alone or as a group.

You can be able to save a couple of bucks when you travel as a group compared to when you are traveling alone. Other advantages of traveling with a group include a few onboard credits for each person, linked reservations to allow you to take dinner together and also stay in cabins that are in the same section of the ship.

Checking the costs of the entire trip before deciding on which cruise to pick is really important it helps you make well informed decisions when it comes to the budget. Click here to see more considerations when choosing a wildlife cruise ship.

  • People with disabilities

This is another important factor to consider when picking a cruise. As mentioned before, the best cruise should be able to cater for everyone’s needs and since persons with disabilities are people too they also deserve the best when it comes to cruising. In some countries like the USA, all the cruise boats on American waters are supposed to strictly abide by the Americans with Disabilities act.

This way, you won’t have to worry even if one of you is disabled in any kind of way. This means that all the facilities in the cruise ship should be easily accessible even to people with disabilities. For instance, the cabins should just be wide enough to allow in wheelchairs and also fitted with the right shower facilities.

Also, you need to check whether the ship will be making temporary stops to any ports and if you will be tendered to the ports. This is mainly because some of these tendering boats might not be having services that are friendly to people with disabilities and therefore might leave you stranded.

  • Special interests

As said before, the decision of picking the best cruise also depends on who you are. Enjoying your cruising while also pursuing your hobbies will definitely make you have an awesome experience, right? This is why cruise lines are now offering special interest cruises. This is of course done in partnership with other third party companies.

So, if you are interested in things like politics, cooking or even scrap-booking, you can have a special cruise trips that are in line with your interests or hobbies and therefore offering you great cruising experience and more fun as you enjoy Scotland’s wildlife.
