Working Out While Traveling for Men

As you know, my brother and I like to drink a lot of beer while traveling. We are what you would call “beer connoisseurs“. We like to enjoy local food dishes too, which aren’t always the healthiest options for us. Although we love to enjoy ourselves and indulge, we also like to stay fit and attempt to be at least a little bit healthy while traveling the world. So we compiled a list of our top workouts for men, while traveling. They are basic, but I find that keeping it simple is your best bet while on the road. If you tend to overcomplicate things, it doesn’t always get done.

Running

I know it sounds super simple and that you shouldn’t need to read this article to know that you can run to stay fit while traveling, but it isn’t always easy to find the motivation while on the road. This is my favorite type of workout because I can get it over and done with in 20-40 mins depending on my motivation level. When you get in the routine of it, no matter where you are, you will get up and run in the morning. By the evening, my motivation has gone down drastically, so I tend to go first thing in the morning. (Awesome new music always helps motivate me as well).

Body Weight Exercises

Planks, pushups and squats, oh my! Don’t underestimate the amount of sweat you can get going with just a 30 minute HIIT Training session (HIIT stands for High Intensity Interval Training). Basically you go as hard as you can for a minute, rest for 30 seconds and continue on for 7-20 minutes. (Keep in mind you can do a variety of interval times – these are just the ones I prefer). I know everyone thinks that mostly girls use Pinterest.com, but it’s a great resource for finding new exercises to keep your body on it’s toes and keep you interested/challenged in your workouts.

Local Exercise

I used to get nervous about going to a local gym, yoga or crossfit, but sometimes you just have to push yourself to go. It is much more motivating to get your butt kicked when you’re being told what to do. Or, often I am much more motivated once I’m at the gym. I figure I might as well give it my all when I’m already at the gym, rather than sometimes losing interest in my home workouts while traveling. 4 Essential Tips to Deal with the Travel Hangover

You can’t take the party out of traveling. How can you claim to have toured a city if you haven’t even lived it up and experienced the night life with the locals? 1. Hydrate yourself, a lot!

Try to drink at least one glass of water for every alcoholic beverage you consumed the night before, to wash out all the alcohol as soon as possible.
