7 Steps to Plan an Unforgettable Trip on a Student Budget

September 20, 2019

You wish to get away from your daily routine and academical pressure and enjoy some beautiful place of the globe. Before you see the Statue of Liberty, the Niagara Falls or Eiffel Tower, there are essential things to do.

Traveling on a student’s budget may be a challenging task, and you may be lost on how to plan a trip. Follow our simple seven steps for trip preparation and make the best out of your adventure.

Plan Your Trip Dates and Transportation Options

Here can be a few factors to take into account while deciding on the dates:

  • Yours and your friends’ free dates should match;
  • Choose the lowest season for your desired destination;
  • Compare the ticket prices, agree on dates and country with travel companions, and book online.

Check International Conferences Your School Participates In

There should be plenty of propositions from your college or university for an international conference to attend. In this case, most likely, your school or an inviting side will sponsor an attendant’s trip.

It may be a fully financially covered option, or they will provide you only with a place to stay, or the tickets to the destination. That way you will be able to stay in another city for cheap or even free for a few days.

The scientific conference will most likely take only part of the time you’ll stay in a new place. The rest of the time you can simply enjoy the location. Anyways, additional plus to this option is that you will have a publication on the event’s website or in a scientific magazine. Most of the schools require such writings to finish one’s Bachelor’s or Master’s education.

You might not be sure which topic to choose for such work or how to complete it. Besides, it should be original papers relevant to the conference agenda. In case you want to travel and do not feel confident enough, turn to a professional writing service for help. There are tons of these if you start searching, and all you need to do is send a write my essay without plagiarism request on-site and start packing for your trip right away!

Book a Shared Accommodation

If you have decided to travel independently with no obligations like conferences or other university events, finding accommodation will be your next task. Cooperating with other students for a trip would be a good idea, as it might save some cash for each person.

Consider renting a shared place on one of the biggest vacation rental sites such as Airbnb.com, Tripping.com, HomeToGo, or HomeAway. The best group would be the size of a 3-4 people maximum.

Make an International Student Card

Most European and North American universities inform their students about international students’ identity cards. If you still do not have one, order it from the ISIC website.

This is the most significant internationally-recognized student ID, which also can be your banking card while you travel around the globe.

This card allows you to show official student status everywhere in the world and have discounts in 125,000 locations.

Those include:

  • public transportation;
  • flight, train and bus tickets;
  • museums;
  • attractions;
  • tours around the cities;
  • clubs/bars and many more.

Make an Itinerary for Must-See Places

Creating a trip itinerary may be both interesting and overwhelming. Which tourist attractions are an absolute must-see, and which ones could be skipped? Some trip planner apps help make your trip itinerary.

The most well-known is TripAdvisor. You can search by destination, rating of places, read other travelers’ reviews. Make your list clear and not very long. Include only the spots you are interested in and plan the time you may spend there.

Consider Renting a Car

Now that you have already booked your tickets, found accommodation, ordered international student ID, and made your dream list of places to visit, it’s finally time to think about transportation within the country you are going to.

Consider renting a car with the tripmates. The international student’s ID card will help to get up to 20% discount, depending on the car rental company. For example, Europcar, Europe’s leading rental company, offers 15% off by making an online reservation or in their rental stations.

Calculate the Budget

Now when you already know all the main trip expenses, write them down in Notes or create an Excel sheet. Even better, download a free financial budgeting template and use that! Of course, additionally to things we’ve already talked about, count the food cost in the country of your destination. If you’re budget isn’t covering everything you need on your trip, or if you’re concerned about funding in case of an emergency, see if title loans could be a good backup plan.

Be realistic, it is a trip to a new place, and you will be thrilled to try some new dishes. Maybe your group will go to a cafe or a pub, so don’t set this part of your budget too low. Make some space for souvenirs and other small presents for your friends and family back home as well.

Final Words

After all the planning and preparations, you are finally good to go! Pack up only necessary and appropriate to the season clothes and other necessities.

One backpack will be perfect for the short trip and won’t spoil your baggage allowance. Take your friend with you and finally, go enjoy your unforgettable and affordable trip!

Date a Ladyboy – Finding Love in an Unusual Dating Market

September 12, 2019

“Will someone ever love me for me?”

I’m pretty sure many, if not all, of us have pondered upon this question one way or another. We’ve probably questioned our self-worth a number of times too. Maybe, we even tried to enumerate all the qualities we have that make us somewhat loveable. I’m pretty sure you’ve done this yourself – especially during times when you questioned the very love you feel for yourself.

I get it. It’s hard to believe that true love exists. But the reason why we find it so hard to admit it is true is not because it is non-existent. It’s because we try to fool ourselves that it is for it is only when we think true love is not real that our heart rests easy. Check this video out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCUbiykxeyE.

“If it is real, then why haven’t I experienced it? If it is real, then why is it that nobody has come to make me feel that way? If it is real, then am I the only one who is unworthy of receiving it?”

When we recognize the existence of true love, we begin to feel pressured. We begin to think that the whole world is against us and that’s why it is being unfair. You might even start feeling cursed like someone out there is praying that you never find happiness.

But you see, love is not something you rush. It is kind; it is patient and just. It is not bound by a time frame and it is most certainly not made to follow rules. Love flourishes in its own time, in its own ways. And the reason why it hasn’t come knocking to your door yet is because your time has yet to come. Maybe it doesn’t think you’re mature enough to handle the real world problems that come with feeling affection towards someone. Either that or you may be knocking in the wrong door.

Small talk aside, love does not necessarily happen between man and woman. Sometimes, it can be between man and man, woman and woman, or man and transgender. As I said a while ago, love works in its own ways and time. You cannot dictate how your love story will unfold. Although you are the author and the hero, you can’t decide who the heroine becomes. Love is just that playful – and that’s what makes it so exciting.

So I ask you: Have you ever tried considering your options?

Aside from dating biological women, you may want to expand the love market by getting to know ladyboys. Who knows? The love you might be searching for may be within your reach after all. You were just reaching out to the wrong tree. It’s not too late to change things though. But remember, not everyone is born to date a ladyboy. You should at least have the following qualities to “qualify” as a ladyboy suitor:

Openness To New Experiences

If you’re the type person who’s genuinely open to experiencing new things, then maybe you can give trans dating a shot. You see, if you judge something way before actually experiencing it first-hand, you’re robbing yourself of the opportunity to learn more about the world (read more). And all too often, this will become of the things you’ll heavily regret later on in life. As the old folks like to say “Experience the world while you’re young and able” because true enough, you can never take back time that has already passed. You might end up alone and lonely because you were too afraid to take chances in life.

I say go forth and bask in everything the world has to offer – no matter how big or small, normal or peculiar. At the end of the day, we only regret the things we didn’t do. So why not take a chance? What’s there to lose anyway?

Genuine Heart

Aside from having an open mind and being “game” all the time, it also takes a genuine heart to truly love someone for who they are – transgender and all. Trans people are often plagued with their own lack of confidence. I guess you can’t blame for being too hard on themselves because it wasn’t too long ago when the rest of the world is too. They were made to believe that they were different (in a bad way) and unworthy of people’s sincerity. Now, even if the world has become more accepting, many of them still can’t get over their personal insecurities and trauma. Only a true heart with the purest motives can help them regain self-love.

If you are a man of courage, then this will not discourage you in any way. If anything, this will help you pursue love even more fervently.

Strong Conviction & Determination

Resolve is everything in the game of love. The path will not be easy; it will not be a walk in the park. However, if you truly want to meet your destiny, you have to be powerful enough to push through your wavering resolve and continue on the path you have chosen for yourself. If it’s love you truly seek, it is love you’ll find.

If you still want to date a transwoman after all that has been said and you think you really have what it takes to give them happiness, then by all means, start exploring dating apps and free tranny sites for transgenders today. The world needs more people like you – people who can love without conditions, limits, and boundaries.

Being in a relationship with a transsexual is definitely going to be a rocky journey but if what you have with your partner is real, you will enjoy every bit of that journey – no matter how hard. As long as you put your faith in each other and believe in what your relationship can do for each other, then the odds will surely sway in your favour. If not now, I’m confident that it eventually will. Just trust the process. You can do anything as long as you have love on your side.

Four Knife Safety Tips Everyone Should Know!

September 6, 2019

Let me tell you a story. There I was, on a bus near a middle-of-no-where Vegas casino, when we came to a stop for some gas. I got off to use the restroom when I noticed that my pants were hanging lower than usual (thankfully, no one else noticed).

I discovered that the problem was that the head of my belt had torn off from the belt itself (it was a type of ratchet belt, without notches). Attaching it back on wouldn’t have been a problem, but the end of the belt was frayed and torn.

I needed to cut off the excess belt in order to reattach the head.

And guess what?

My knife was stuck in my luggage, underneath the bus.

When the bus started moving again, I had to sit there with a small metal ruler I found in my bag, and slowly saw my way through the excess belt. Do you know how hard it is to cut through leather-like-substances with a flimsy little ruler?

This little anecdote is just one example of how being prepared at all times can save you so much time and hassle, but if you’re going to be carrying around knives everywhere you go, you gotta know your basic knife safety. Here are some rules of thumb to keep in mind if you like knives and being prepared to use them.

Keep your knife Sharp

Keeping your knife sharp may sound counter-intuitive in terms of safety, but trust me, a dull knife is absolutely more dangerous than a sharp one! There are two reasons for this.

One, as the knife gets duller and duller you start pressing harder and harder, so if that knife should slip, god forbid, you could seriously end up hurting yourself.

Two, a dull knife will catch and get stuck easier, and there’s the same danger again to apply a force to get it unstuck, slipping, and hurting yourself. Or someone else, even. Keep your knife sharp, either by getting yourself a whetstone or going to a professional.

The Right Knife for the Job

Knives are a tool, just like hammers, screwdrivers, and wrenches. Using the right tool for the job will not only make the job easier but is also better for the tools. You don’t hang a painting with a tire-iron.

Knowing what kind of knife you have and when you should be using it is important for both the care of the knife and your own safety. A chef’s knife is a good type of knife; it cuts well and has a good strong handle. But it won’t cut through bread.

A serrated knife, such as your typical bread knife, is what you need. I have a Swiss-army-knife that has about four different types of knives on it, and each of them are for different situations. Know what tool you are holding, because knowing is half the battle.

Safe Knife Usage

Using a knife properly mostly comes down to common sense. What are you trying to avoid when using a knife? Chopping fingers, gutting yourself, nicking fingernails – these are accidents that happen all the time, every day.

Not because the knives are dangerous (and, obviously, they are), but because of “user error”, to put it nicely.

If your cutting, say, a sheet of cardboard, always cut away from your own body, even if it’s inconvenient. If your chopping a tomato, DON’T hold the tomato and cut at your own palm. Before even using a knife, if you can wash and dry your hands so that you can retain a firm grip. Remember, slippage is dangerous. Don’t be “that” guy because you were lazy.

Bottom Line

Knives are awesome. They look cool, they’re wicked sharp, and they’re dangerous. They’re a tool, designed to be used, and it’s up to YOU to use them right.

You can sharpen ‘em properly, wear gloves and safety gear, and buy the highest quality you can get a hold of, but at the end of the day, the only way to feel safe is to be safe.

Know what you’re doing, what you’re using, and be prepared. Always.

6 Wholesome Activities to Enjoy in Geylang, Singapore’s Red Light District

September 5, 2019

Geylang is a township in the Central Region of Singapore that is infamous for its red light district, proving that even in Singapore, where citizens are generally straight-laced and law-abiding, you can find outliers and rebels. And here is where they are allowed to ply their trade where sex is the main commodity.

While it’s true that you can find Singapore’s seedy bars, sex shops, and brothels in this area, there are a lot more to Geylang than its regulated sex industry. In fact, if you’re in the look out for more affordable accommodations, you can opt for a cheap hotel in Geylang that offers top-quality, wholesome service. Indeed, the area’s dodgy reputation helps keep the prices in Geylang cheaper than other areas in Singapore.

Like any part of Singapore, however, Geylang is pretty safe, even when you’re walking at night. Moreover, you can avoid the back alleys so you won’t even have to see any of the shady businesses the area is notorious for. More importantly, you’ll find that Geylang is actually a fascinating place with its own charm and personality that’s a little more colourful than the more developed areas of the country. Here, you’ll find hawker food courts, markets, and historical landmarks that are truly worth visiting. Below are just some of the activities and destinations that we recommend for anyone visiting this other side of Singapore.

Shop at Geylang Serai Market

Immediately, you’ll see the strong Malay influence as the Geylang Serai Market is housed in a traditional Kampung house. It’s one of Singapore’s busiest and largest markets. Most of the businesses offer Malay specialties and products with some shops offering Middle Eastern spices as well. Along with fresh seafood and produce, the market also has shops that sell dry goods like fabrics and souvenirs.

Eat at Geylang Bahru Market and Food Centre

After a year of renovations and construction, the Geylang Bahru Market and Food Centre reopened its doors to hungry customers in 2018. This hawker centre offers an assortment of Chinese and Malay dishes with some stalls offering western fare as well. You can satisfy your craving for braised duck, nasi lemak, spring rolls, noodles, and more. With a newly renovated building, the centre features a more airy and comfortable ambiance filled with light and mouth-watering food options.

Take Picture of the Pre-War Double Story Terrace Shop Houses

Take your Instagram shots to another level by featuring these incredible pre-war terrace and shop houses found along Lorong 24A and Lorong 34. The buildings’ façades feature colourful tile patterns, uniquely designed windows, and other beautiful architectural details. They date back to the 1920s and feature a mixture of Chinese, Malay, and European design influences. These pre-war structures stand in stark contrast to Singapore’s iconic high-rise buildings, but they are an important historical side of Singapore that’s worth appreciating.

Visit the Wisma Geylang Serai

The recently opened Wisma Geylang Serai is a multi-purpose facility that’s modeled after traditional Malay houses with pitched roofs. Built to house Malay and Muslim organisations along with social government agencies, this building is a testament to the vision of Singapore to strengthen the Geylang community through better understanding and cooperation. Aside from appreciating its awe-inspiring architecture, you can also view the Geylang Serai Heritage Gallery that showcases the history of the township.

Set an Appointment to Visit The Intan

The Intan is a private home-museum that requires appointments for personal tours. It centers on the Peranakan heritage or the ethnic groups that first came to the Malay Archipelago. The tour is conducted by the owner, Alvin Yapp, who is also a prominent antique collector. At the end of the tour, a Peranakan tea and dining experience is offered.

Immerse in the Malay Culture at the Geylang Serai Malay Village

Get a comprehensive view of the lives of Malays in Singapore before the 1960s. Also known as the “Kampung” Days, Malays had their own unique traditional dances, instruments, clothes, and rituals. Their culture and history is in full display in this one-acre gallery that was built in 1989.

As you can see, Geylang has a lot to offer visitors. From its unique architecture to its fascinating history, there’s a whole other side of Singapore to learn and discover here. It’s a mistake to avoid this area simply because of its more sensationalised reputation that’s really limited to a just a number of streets. Come see for yourself how Geylang adds variety and colour to Singapore as a diverse melting pot.

Four Steps for a Healthy Summer Lifestyle

August 28, 2019

Summer is undoubtedly a time for enjoying yourself, but it’s easy to get carried away among all the fun and games. It’s important to retain as healthy a lifestyle as possible, with the sunnier months presenting their own set of unique challenges and opportunities to live well day to day.

Here, we discuss four key steps to enjoying a healthy summer.

Stay safe in the sun

Sometimes, all we need to see is a slight glimmer of sunlight through the clouds to don our shorts, rev up the barbeque and prepare to make the most of the warmer weather. On a hot summer day, it’s all about bathing in as much sun as possible, but plenty of us forget to prepare for weather properly in among all the excitement.

Regardless of whether you’re in your back garden or on the beach, it’s essential you remember to respect the sun. Plenty of sun cream (no chancing it without for a few hours) and a sensible approach to your exposure time is essential. Also, remember to have a glass of water every so often to avoid dehydration and heat stroke.

It’s common sense stuff, but often easily forgotten.

Make the most of the weather with exercise

Many of us will have had that fitness plan on hold during the winter months. The cold, wet and windy weather is decidedly off-putting when it comes to going for a run, likewise it offers a decent enough excuse to duck the gym as well.

Especially in the modern world of office jobs and 9-5s spent sat down in front of a screen, regular exercise is hugely important. If there’s a time to get yourself started on a new fitness regime, surely it’s when the sun is shining brightest.

Use the warm weather and nice days to encourage your first steps into a new plan, or to expand on your current routine. It’ll make the hard work a bit more enjoyable, and hopefully start you on your way to a healthier lifestyle.

Pay close attention to you spending

There’s always plenty going on during summer months. Holidays, weddings, family activities and plenty of great nights out are there to be enjoyed, and rightfully so. However, with so much going on, you’re bound to be under increased financial pressure, and unfortunately your pay packet doesn’t get any bigger for the summer season.

It’s important to keep track of your finances and budget carefully during this period. Remember to stay true to the simple concept of not allowing your outgoings to surpass your income and you should be OK. Whether that means saving ahead of the summer to fund the fun or being particular about what you choose to do, it’s essential you don’t head into the autumn with extra debts hanging over you.

Take a holiday

Speaking of holidays; they might cost a pretty penny, but they sure are worth it for the sake of giving you a break from your usual daily life. With most of us spending 11 months a year working the daily grind, it’s important you find time to get away from the traditional stresses and responsibilities of daily life, and the summer holiday is the perfect time.

It doesn’t matter if it’s two weeks in Barbados or a weekend break, find the time this summer to give yourself a reprise from life’s everyday pressures, so you can return to work refreshed and ready to go again.

So, while we all might be carrying both an umbrella and sun cream with us at the moment, it’s still important to remember to look after yourself this summer. A little attention paid to your money and physical and mental health over this period will see you head into the colder months in great shape.

3. Buddhism Rules

Remember it’s a different culture than your own, so rules and customs will be different. Men or women, remain clothed while walking through the towns and cities, don’t go shirtless or in a bathing suit only.

If you’re a female and entering a religious structure, temples, or palaces, or pagodas, you’ll want to cover your shoulders, wear a shirt that covers you, and a skirt or pants that go below your knees.

4. Greeting

In Cambodia, you don’t shake hands, they do what’s called sampeah. To do the sampeah, you place both palms together in front of your chest like a lotus flower. For greeting elders or those who are higher-ranking, place your hands at mouth level.

For parents, teachers, and grandparents it’s at nose level, kings and monks it’s at eyebrow level. When you’re praying it should touch your forehead.

5. Keep Your Cool

When you’re going to Cambodia, keep in mind they’re always smiling, even if they disagree with something or don’t understand. If you order at a restaurant and the server smiles but has a nervous laugh or looks confused, make sure you verify everything with them.

Anger and frustrations will get you nowhere, so make sure to keep your cool while there.

6. Things to Know

Some things you’ll want to keep in mind:

  • Learn some words in the language Khmer before your trip to Cambodia. This will mean a lot to the locals that you learned some of Khmer.
  • Bartering is normal and expected while in Cambodia so you can barter the price of almost anything as long as there’s no price tag.
  • You’ll want to have an idea of where you’re going by using Google Maps or a regular map. Sometimes drivers won’t always know where they’re going.
  • Don’t give money to children. A lot of them are sent out by their parents instead of going to school, so donating will just encourage it.

7. Temple Visits

A popular tourist destination is Siem Reap and there you can see one of the famous temples, Angkor Wat. You’ll want to hire a guide and driver for the day. If you’re not sure how to find one, your hotel can find one for you.

You’ll need a pass to see the temples. They’re normally about $20 for one day, and you’ll be able to see most of the temples in the area. If you want to explore the temples for longer, it’ll cost more.

It’ll probably be hot and humid so make sure to carry a bag with water, sunscreen, and a change of clothes.

8. Go with the Flow

When you’re traveling to Cambodia, you can go with the flow and not have to worry about planning all of your activities in advance. They’re so many guides to choose from, so it’s easy to find one who will bring you where you want to go.

9. Rise Early

Since it’s very hot and humid in Cambodia, many of the locals get up and start their day earlier before it gets too hot. You’ll want to take trips early in the morning whether it’s to markets or the temples.

Since many of the locals get up early, many of the restaurants in the area close early at 9:00 pm. If you want to take full advantage of the cooler weather, plus all Cambodia has to offer, try to rise as early as possible.

10. Local Sim Card

To save on phone expenses while in Cambodia, you’ll want to buy a local sim card for your phone. You can find sim cards being sold outside airports for only $3 and that will last about a week. It’ll also help you with using Google Maps to find your way around the area.

6 Travel Experiences You Need to Add to Your Bucket List

August 22, 2019

  • Embark on a Wildlife Safari in Africa

A wildlife safari is one of those experiences that cannot easily be described in words. It is moving, breathtaking, peaceful and makes you truly feel at one with nature on a level you have likely never experienced before. Being out in the wild and learning the survival mechanisms and instinctual abilities of the wildlife is a learning experience unlike any other on earth, while the vast grasslands are a treat to the senses and the soul. We’d highly recommend you visit smaller, more exclusive reserves if you’re looking for a luxurious safari away from the crowds that are often drawn to places like Kruger National Park. Thanda Safari is one such exclusive reserve where you’ll get to see the big five and safari in the lap of luxury.

  • See the cherry blossoms in Japan

The cherry blossom season in Japan, which is around Spring (March-June) and Autumn (September-December) each year, attracts thousands of tourists and there’s no wonder why. It is the most beautiful sight, as the quaint, perfectly manicured cities of Japan are enveloped in delicate pink and white flowers. However, don’t think you’ll be able to see them at just any time between Spring and Autumn, because they come just as quickly as they go. Sometimes the cherry blossoms bloom late, other times earlier than usual and typically stay around for a maximum of three weeks. The cherry blossoms start blooming in the south and move north, so if you happen to be late in the south, it’s possible to still catch sight of them if you make your way north to places like Honshu.

  • See the Northern Lights over Norway

The Northern Lights is a true natural phenomenon and one of the most breathtaking there is. This spectacle, which can be seen from Nordic countries such as Finland, Sweden, Iceland and Norway, is truly spectacular as the skies glow a luminous shade of green, pink and yellow from the solar activity. We believe the best place to see the Northern Lights is in Norway, as there’s a better chance of clearer skies especially during peak season, which is November to March. The only downside is that one cannot forecast when the Northern Lights will be seen – not even our current technology can predict it. Your best bet is to hope it shows up during the usual period and hope that skies are clear!

  • Explore the remains of an ancient civilisation in Machu Picchu

Visiting Machu Picchu is an experience most people long to undertake – even those that are not necessarily avid travelers. This experience is educational and moving as the ancient ruins perched high up in the mountains gives us great insight into ancient civilisations, their beliefs, abilities and craftsmanship. While Machu Picchu is ever-so fascinating, it’s also incredibly beautiful, surrounded by tall mountain peaks and lush vegetation. The only way to get to the ruins is by train, or by hiking a good few hours. It’s truly remarkable to learn that a civilisation was built at such an altitude without the technology we have today – which is why hiking is surprisingly a favourite; this is how they did it back then.

  • Hike through the deserts of Chile

Chile is one of those places many don’t think about when planning a trip, which is why I truly believe it’s one of the most underrated places on earth. Chile is one of the most diverse landscapes, with volcanoes, hot spring geysers, deserts, salt pans, mountain ranges – you name it. The typography is other-worldly, especially in the deserts of Chile such as the world-famous Atacama. The Atacama is the driest place on earth, which also means there is very little life out there. The land is also rocky and vast, and it’s extremely quiet, giving visitors the feeling of being on the moon.

  • Dive in the Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef is a world-renown natural phenomenon hidden beneath the waters of Australia’s North-Eastern coastline. It’s likely already on your bucket list, however, time and environmental damage is unfortunately taking its toll on the coral and marine life, making it a place you need to visit rather sooner than later. The Great Barrier Reef has the greatest marine diversity in the world, with over 400 types of coral, over 1000 species of fish and over 3500 types of mollusks. The best way to see the burst of colour and life is of course scuba diving, otherwise snorkeling. You can also take boat trips around the area.
