Best Places in the USA for Solo Vacations

Ready for the trip of your life?

Traveling alone gives you the freedom to whatever you want and allows time for self-reflection. Without others around you, you’re more likely to meet locals and make new friends. When you’re on a trip with yourself, anything can happen.

There are plenty of lively and exciting cities for solo vacations throughout the United States. From Key West to Portland, start exploring America the Beautiful.

San Diego, California

If you’re solo in San Diego, there are plenty to check out. It’s a friendly and lively town, so you’ll never feel lonely. Plus, if you’re nervous about traveling around southern California alone, you can rely on Aitken * Aitken * Cohn to keep you safe.

If you’re on-the-go in San Diego, food trucks will be your best friend. From gourmet sandwiches to taco trucks, you find anything in the city’s thriving food truck scene.

Once you’re full, check out San Diego’s mesmerizing attractions. From Belmont Park, a beachside amusement park for people of all ages, to LEGOLAND, no one gets bored in San Diego. Don’t forget to stop by the renowned San Diego Zoo and take a ride on Skyfari, its overhead gondola lift.

Key West, Florida

Spend a few days relaxing alone in America’s southernmost point. Key West is home to happening bars, gorgeous beaches, and plenty of delicious seafood.

Take a trip to Fort Zachary Taylor National Park and spend the afternoon relaxing on its white sand beach. When the sun starts to go down, head over to Mallory Square to catch a glimpse of one of Key West’s famous sunsets.

After, grab a bite to eat at any of the bustling bars in downtown Duval Street. Live music is common throughout Key West so dining alone won’t feel lonely.

Denver, Colorado

If you’re looking for a mountainside getaway, Denver is the place. Fall in love with the rocky mountains while enjoying the shops in downtown Larimer Square.

Denver is peaceful and the perfect place for a solo vacation. The people are friendly and it’s easy to bike or use public transportation to get from place to place.

While there, check out a show in Colorado’s famous Red Rocks Amphitheater. It’ll be a musical experience you’ll never forget.

From scenic hikes to the bustling downtown Denver scene, Colorado provides the perfect destination for your solo trip.

Portland, Oregon

Traveling alone to Portland is a piece of cake. There’s plenty of restaurants and brewpubs to keep you busy, plus a variety of tourist landmarks to check out during the day.

It’s easy to see the city on foot or rent a bike to get around. If you’re in Portland on a Sunday, take advantage of free vintage trolley rides.

Take a stroll over to Portland’s Alberta Arts District and check out the mesmerizing artwork. Book lovers can spend hours getting lost in Powell’s Books, the world’s largest independent bookstore.

Portland is the “Microbrewery Capital of the World”, so beer lovers are welcome. Check out some of the 58 microbreweries throughout the city. If you want live music and flashy clubs, head over to Portland’s Pearl District.

Inspiration for Solo Vacations

Solo vacations are perfect for those looking for a trip without rules. You decide what you do, see, and eat, and don’t have to worry about looking out for anyone but yourself. Everyone should take a solo trip at some point in their lives.
