You’re probably familiar with the European and American versions of the popular casino table game but there are several other variations of roulette out there.
From Alphabetic Roulette to Penny Roulette, we’ve found a couple variations of the game that we don’t think you’ll have heard of. And whilst you’d have trouble finding these games in your local casino many of these games can be played online.
Let’s take a look:
1. Alphabetic Roulette
Going through these games in alphabetical order, Alphabetic Roulette replaces the numbers of the wheel with letters. And it’s not like the traditional game of roulette that has 37 numbers on the wheel (or 38 if you’re playing the American version). The English alphabet only has 26 letters and there are only 25 possibilities on this wheel – Y & Z occupy the same slot.
That’s not all. This variation of the popular game also features six different colours. Four letters correspond to each colour, whilst the YZ space isn’t coloured – essentially, it’s the 0 slot compared to the traditional version of the game.
The Alphabetic Roulette mat gives you several betting options. One of your chips can cover one letter, 2 letters, 3 letters or 4 letters in one go for example, as well as the group combinations of letters which give you shorter odds. Likewise, you can bet on a certain colour or a dozens bet.
2. Diamond Roulette
The main difference between Diamond Roulette and the traditional game is that there are extra colours thrown into the mix in this variation. Instead of the usual red and black (and the green zero), you’ll find the following colours at the Diamond Roulette table:
- Black
- Blue
- Green
- Purple
- Red
- Yellow
Each colour corresponds to six numbers so pay outs are 5 to 1. The number of colours rules out the even pay outs you’d get by backing red or black in the traditional game.
Diamond Roulette also has many win multipliers: x15, x20, x25, x30, x35, x40, x45, x50, x60 and the Jackpot (x100). Following a winning bet, the randomly selected multiplier on the outer wheel applies to the money won from the bet on Diamond.
3. Penny Roulette
Penny Roulette is all about the affordable fun. This game is growing and growing in popularity online and is now offered at most online casinos, such as the Betfair Casino.
It takes just a penny to set the roulette wheel spinning in motion and picking the right number means you can win up to 35x your stake.
At most online casinos you’ll find that the maximum stake per bet goes all the way up to £20, but, as the title suggests, it’s also the cheapest version of roulette that you can possibly play for real money.
The usual bets apply – singles, splits, streets, corners, lines, columns/dozens and 50/50 bets.
Newbies are the ones that often play this game as it allows them to pick up the game and practice their techniques at a very cheap price before going into the higher stake games or at a land-based casino.
